Further to my post immediately below I have now heard from all the Peppitts on the site!
I'd like to thank Kathryn B and Krissie for all their help with out them both and especially Kathryn B for writing to the people I needed to speak to I would seriously be struggling with this.
Thank you to everyone who has replied.

So far nobody has replied to me either here or in my personal mailbox. I was really hoping to hear somethng one way or another.
Is there any other way I could find out this family info with out contacting relatives? As I wonder if they will help.

Just to put it on record, I sent messages to four people ... and have heard back from the one who has a different batch of Peppitts. ;)

I sent a message to Brian and Stephen, there was one other but I can't remember his name. I hope they won't feel reluctant to answer because of old family history.

Thanks for your help and fingers crossed one of the members who might be related to me will reply. What is your email and I will tell you the family story as to why I don't know the Peppitt side of my family.
Likewise Kathryn send me the address so I can write to you with the story off board.

It would be nice to hear how you get on.

It's not that unusual to know very little about a side of your family. I didn't know much about mine. My dad was an "afterthought" with old parents and in those days people didn't talk much about their families.

I'm off to bed now. I live in the Netherlands and it's 10 to 11 here. What time is it in Canada then Kathryn?

I still can't get the trees with Herbert Francis in them to come up! I must be doing something wrong but am at a loss as to know what.
Thank you ladies so much for your help I just hope they will reply. Once I have got the information I need I will write to you both and let you know the full story, as to why I do not know this side of my family, some of which I find highly amusing although the grand-daughter angle is not at funny and is infact very worrying.

Krissie -- I was right in the middle of checking the on-line phone directory when you posted about the GR members. ;)

Since that Ian had died in Hampshire recently, I checked there, and there were only about 6 listings, for instance ... although I couldn't really tell from this side of the ocean where they actually were ...

You can't see the trees without the owner's permission.You will have to contact them first to ask.

The 2 members with Amy in their trees [James and Brian] also have Herbert so you should be OK there.

If you click on "search trees" at the top of this page you will see search boxes. Just fill in the surname PEPPITT and forename IAN and click on "search".

You will then see 2 names, Brian is probably the same one you have already contacted [with Amy in his tree].
Click on the box "send message" next to Sandra's name and explain your interest.

Repeat the search with the forename STEPHEN and you will get 1 contact, Howard. Send him a message too.

Hope you can follow this.

That's okay, Pauline -- those are the same two people who have Herbert. You only need to write them once. ;)

(Oh, hint -- you were putting too much information in. First and last names only. No "Francis". You can just search for the names one by one, don't bother with any dates or places, just first and last names. You'll see, if there are any different people with any of the other names you want in their trees.)

Pauline -- just follow Krissie's instructions! I lined 'em up, she knocked 'em over.

There's no chance that the people in trees here at GR aren't your people. There just aren't enough Peppitts in that part of the world for there to be duplicates.

I know a little whereof you speak. When my dad died 5 years ago next month, he had recently been diagnosed with metastasized melanoma that would have killed him within a few weeks or months, not pleasantly -- but he died after only six weeks, after a rapid decline, and suddenly. When I mentioned our concerns about a possibly malfunctioning pacemaker to the funeral director, he contacted the coroner on his own initiative, the coroner called me, we chatted, he decided an autopsy would be a good idea but left it up to us to decide. My mum said yes, better to know. And in fact it was. The coroner called a few weeks later to say the report was ready, and to let my mum know personally that the cause of death was a quadruple coronary artery blockage -- never any symptoms or diagnosis -- and that since that was what my grandfather had also died of, at 65, it was a known inherited condition, and all of us kids must immediately go to doctors and be properly examined and follow orders. That was right about when my Bob was diagnosed with diabetes, so now we both count those carbs.

Enough babble. Go get those contacts sent to the GR members with your family in their trees, if you aren't doing it as I type! And good luck.

I couldn't work out how to see the family trees, for Herbert Francis I couldn't even get the trees to come up to contact the owners. I did contact the owners of the trees with Amy peppitt in them and hope they will reply.

Glad to help. Can you work out how to contact the Genes Reunited members with Peppitts in their trees?
If not we can guide you through it. I think that would definitely be very helpful to you.

Also you could try searching the online phone directories for Peppitts in the Middlesex area. Then you could perhaps send them a letter asking if they were related to you and explaining your problem.

Thank you both so very very much. I am a complete newbie at this, tonight is my first attempt, and if I had not needed the information and to find other family members for medical reasons I would probably not have started this.
My grand-daughter has a heart condition which the specialist thinks is inherited and I need to find out more information on the condition and how long other members of my family who I am not in touch with have lived and what they died of if at all possible.
You have no idea just how much you have helped in just one evening.
Any tips for searching would be very much appreciated. Thank you both.

I've just updated, found a couple more contacts for Pauline, I hope she's still with us!

There I go, forgetting the obvious again.

Well, I got as far as identifying Amy and getting the right birthdates!

There are 2 members on this site with an Amy Peppitt, born 1913 in Middlesex, and Herbert Peppitt, born 1910 in Wembley Middlesex, in their tree.

There is also a member with an Ian Peppitt, 1936, and one with a Stephen Peppitt, 1957.

I suggest you contact them for furthur info.
