now...... lol. where do i start, lol

i have searched more for you........

FreeBMD birth records are complete for 1879, 1882 & 1883, so Alice would have shown up on that....
i have searched Ancestrys BMD's but there are only 2 quarters in 1880 & 1881 each, and she's not there either....... not sure why i can't get the other 2 quarters of each year though.......

have searched census' again, and nothing similar in either surname........
so i think, for what its worth, lol, that we had the right girl before.......

don't worry too much about her age, dont forget that people were mainly illiterate(?) back then, so nobody knew how old they were or anything........ in 1901 census she was born 1881....

my theory is....... that she was illegitimate, which is why she had her fathers surname as a middle name, that was quite usual, and also why that on the census with John she was named as visitor not daughter, as she had a different surname......

but what happened to her mother, i don't know !!!!

i have tried looking for a John Balmer marrying a Clayson, but theres nothing in the whole country!

dont really know what else i can suggest...... waiting for 1911 isn't going to help, we cant find her birth.....

ooh just thought, lol are you local to Liverpool?

because the parish records might help, searching for a baptism, which names parents, and also you could try bastardly bonds....... abit like paying maintenace to illegitimate children.

worth a try??? if you're not local, try a Liverpool site, and some kind soul might look it up for you.....

Lol, sorry, think I confused you, the Harry I said died in 1897 was a different Harry to the one you found. I found a Harry born the same year as my Henry, so I followed it through and noticed the other Harry had died in 1897 and realised that the Henry you found in 1901 must be my Henry as I eliminated the only other possibility.

I've had a look and we have only one other Dunford which is a Harry born in 1867 in Wincanton, Somerset and I also have a death of a Harry Dunford in 1897 in Shepton Mallet which I think is the same Harry. This isn't my Henry so I think that the Henry's you found must be him.

Hi Jane,

Lol, drives me crazy when theres no proper place of birth to connect someone. I think it has to be as there are from what I can see absolutely no other Henry Dunfords born in Somerset around that time. Thats definitely him in the 1881 census you found and thats the last I have of him. I also haven't found a possible death for him which would explain him missing. I'm assuming that maybe as he was in Bath on the 1901 census he just put that as his place of birth, god knows why, lol. As for the 1891 census I haven't got a clue where that place is, lol. I'd have to say that they are both him, I think I will go and check there are no other Henry or Harry Dunfords.

Can i ask for a lookup please. This could be a tricky one. I'm looking for a Henry Dunford born in Yeovil, Somerset 1867 in the 1891 and 1901 census. I found a possibility in the 1901 census although I haven't gone into it yet as i'm not sure its the right person. In the 1901 census there is a Henry Dunford born Bath, Somersetshire age 33. I have checked BMD and I can't see another Henry born in Somerset around that time so its a possible but was wondering if you could check 1891 and this one in 1901 and see if they are one and the same person.
