Hi everyone Still waiting to hear back from a few people. For some of you who have submitted enquiries, it has led to much new information - some of which greatly contrasts with the information which was already obtained. Users of Australian BMD's would realise that they are a genealogical treasure trove, and the mere fact that the indexes list both parent's names (Victoria - full names, NSW - forenames, other states not entirely sure) means it is really easy to spot which children belong to the right family. Oh, if only it were that simple for other regions. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages and good wishes. I have enjoyed working on your "case studies" as much as you have enjoyed receiving the information. For new people reading this thread, I am happy to take on additional enquiries - please don't forget to include EVERYTHING that you know already - it makes my job so much simpler. Best regards to all Andrew

Hi Andrew, What a massive task you've taken on! It's a very kind offer but I don't know whether you want a very challenging quest... I have found 2 Walthos who went to Australia. This is all that I have on them John Waltho (sometimes Walthow) absconded in 1823 (4 times), NSW and arrived on ship Minerva Thomas Waltho who was sentenced to 7 years transportation in 1821. He was approx 17. He might have been born in Staffordshire but I'm not sure. I don't know if he went to NSW or some other place. I don't hold out too much hope with such sketchy info but I'd appreciate anything you can find on any Walthos you come across in your searches. Ta very much Jane

Could you help me please Andrew. My ancestor is James Osborn,on the Unassisted Passsenger List for Victoria it lists a James Osborn,28,Ship:Yorkshire.Arrival:Nov.1861 Port:B.Fiche 195,Page 004. Hello Andrew, Are you still able to do look-ups in Australia? I have been trying to trace my Father's Uncle, he moved to Hobart Tazmania in the early 60's????? His name was David Malcher, or Malsher, they seemed to go by either. His wife Maragret moved there with him, but didn't settle, she moved back to England. That last the family heard of him was a clip in the local paper a few years ago, he was running a boys holiday camp on Flanders Island. He was also a school teacher out there at some point. He is the only one left now, his sister's have all passed away, and Dad would love to hear if he is still alive or not. He would be about 75 now. Don't have any dates of birth for him either.

Hi
I am looking for info on the Salmon Family. Herbert William Salmon was born in Hampton, England 1869. He emigrated to Australia, NSW, i think before 1893. He married Harrietta Dodson, dont know when, but they had their first son, Harold George in1893 NSW.
Herbert also had Beryl, Herbert Cyril and Cedric Laurence, all born back in Hampton, England. They returned to NSW in 1909. I am trying to find what happened to each after they returned. I know Cedric married Jeanie McNaught in 1932 and that Harold George married Dora Ellevsen , again dont know when. Any info regarding my Salmons would help me greatly tracing their movements. Herbert William is buried back in Hampton, England and his wife died some years later in Oz. Thats all i know. Hoping you can find out more so i can fill in my gaps?

kindest regards

Hi Andrew

I'm trying to find out what happened to Herbert Collyer he was born 1899 in Herfordshire I have found him on the ship passenger list to Albany Australia. He left London on 23/05/1923 on the Diogenes. Can not find any trace of him since then and nothing was ever heard of him once he left the UK. Could you perhaps point me in the direction to find out if he died at sea? or is there arrivals lists??

Thanks
Karen

Hi Andrew

Can you please try to help me I am trying to trace my great uncle Thomas Canning born 1933. He left Glasgow on the Big Brother Scheme in the 1950's i think and went to Sydney and has not been heard of since. I have been told that he was working at something to do with sheep but wanted to save to buy a pub/bar or something like that. There was a split in our family for years and we have since been able to contact our relatives in Scotland (We live in Ireland) but no-one knows anything about Thomas. My family would love to find out any info on him. I do hope you can help. I would hope he is still alive.
