Hi Tina, Please ignore all my previous messages today, you must think I am mad. I have just found that you replied to me earlier request ages ago, I had thought that replies would be advised to me, I didnot realize I had to look through the message board. You were very kind to look up my VENTHAM ancestors for me and I greatly appreciate your assistance. Regards Rita Barfield

Tina, Thanks anyway, as I say I've got the marriage certificate I was just hoping you might be able to supply their address. Thanks again Jean

Tina Report 23 Sep 2004 22:32

Hi Jean, I don't mind looking for your couple and giving you what it states in the index but it doesn't give an address I'm afraid. It just gives the couples full names, date of marriage and reference number. Best wishes Tina

Hi Tina, As you have'nt had a request for a couple of days I thought you might like something to do! I have a marriage certificate for St Mary's Church but theres no address at time of marriage - would that be on the "fiche"? The couple Im looking for are John Thomas Cox & Sarah Ann Pamela Payne married Dec.1841. Thanks Jean

Selena in South East London Report 22 Sep 2004 19:22

Thanks for trying John & Sarah Poole for me. I have a missing relative called Charles Bateman who claims to have been born in Deptford in 1868 or 66. I know Deptford is not in Rotherhithe but as he married into the Poole family and lived in Rotherhithe I am just wondering if he did come from there. I don't know how difficult it is to search your info so don't want you to get eyestrain for someone who probably isn't there! Your time is much appreciated. Selena

Hi Tina, Thanks for that - I did'nt know about the sister! I think John & Elizabeth could have been married in 1834 at Marylebone depending on her surnameThanks a lot for looking Jean

Tina Report 22 Sep 2004 00:33

Dear Jean, There are no GRIFFEN's for either church but I think I have found what you are looking for under GRIFFIN for St Mary's. Eliza Ann GRIFFIN baptised 12 July 1837 dau of John & Elizabeth (Ref: 4048) also a sister, Elizabeth Jane GRIFFIN bapt 13 July 1834 dau of John & Elizabeth (Ref: 4049) I'm afraid there is no marriage for the parents in either church or any burials that might match. Hi Shelli, I've just realised I've been looking for COLBY instead of COULBY! Oops sorry about that, I'll have another look ASAP. In case you are interested the only entry for COLBY for either churches is a marriage as follows: John COLBY m Susan Margaret OVENS - 11 May 1872 (Ref: 272) I'll get back to you soon, Tina Hi again Shelli, Just had another check for COULBY's. Nothing for All Saints or St Marys. Sorry! Tina

Dear Rita, Hi! First I checked All Saints, Rotherhithe for VENTHAM. No baptisms or burials but one marriage: Mary Jane Ventham married William Robert Sorrill - 30 June 1872 (Ref: 1374) Then at St Marys there are; William John Ventham married Elizabeth Seymour - 26 Dec 1863 (Ref: 1499) Henry Ventham - buried 20 July 1851 From Clarks Orchard - 3 years old - (Ref: 6941). Clarks Orchard being the name of the street or road that he lived! No baptisms for St Marys I'm afraid. Hope this helps. Tina
