* Susan from W Yorks* Hi Susan, Sorry sweetheart, but there is only one Brampton on the disc's ... so it MUST be the same place. Maybe they had gone into one of the neighbouring villages ? but trawling would take ages. Elaine :-)

Hi Elaine Sorry should have given the district as OLD BRAMPTON Is it possible you could have a look for the Higginbottom's and the Bennet's I gave you again please, must have had a Senior moment. Thanks very much for taking the time looking for my Higginbottom's and Bennett's. I don't think the Bennett's you have found are my family that I was looking for. Thanks once again Sue

Thanks Elaine, I have sent you an e-mail via GR, but if it is too big a job, I quite understand if you haven't the time to trawl through all those pages!! Amazing, I didn't realise how big an area Glossop was population wise. Many thanks for looking, Margaret

* Margaret in Lancashire Drysdale* Margaret, I have just gone to have a look for you ... but I'm staggered ... Glossop is covered by 736 pages ... so it will take a while. All I can say is that I will have a look over the next few days to a week, in between other lookups. I will get in touch with you direct, as soon as I have a result. Please bear with me. I WILL look through all of Glossop for you, it may take some time though. Elaine :-)

Hi Elaine, In the vain hope that you can help me trace my illusive great grandfather, here goes!! John William Woodruff, born Glossop c 1833. Father (on marriage certificate) Edward Woodruff. I have no other details of his family before 1860 when he married in Ireland!! He was a soldier from 1856 and only gave 'Native of Glossop' on his Discharge Papers, so not much help there. If you can't find him, I quite understand, as it is a bit vague. Here's hoping. Margaret

* Pamela Pass * I've checked all of Whittington .. and although there are a few Woodhouse families, the nearest I could find was on a VERY faint page and I think thats it only wishful thinking that I could POSSIBLE make William & Elizabeth look like John & Eliza. I wish I had better news. So sorry. Elaine :-)

*** Anne*** Derbyshire is such a beautiful county, folks moved about a LOT, not wanting to miss any part of it !!! Although the industry has now brought may industrial sites, I think the beauty of the countryside must have been a thousand times better back in 1841 ... and its mostly nice enough now ! Elaine :-)
