Hi Maggi I have found Eliza Senior living with George on the 1871 census and George & family on the 1881. If you send me your email addy I will pass on the images. I will need to do some searching on earlier Oxfordshire censuses as I am not sure whether Caversham will be on them(The border towns hop in and out of Oxon,Berks and Bucks. Chris I have found her on the 1871 census as follows: Living at 4 Cornwell Rd Tottenham Rachel Pudney 53 head Widow Formerly servant b Henleyon Thames Charles Pudney Son 19 Plasterer b Tottenham Henry Pudney Son 17 Labourer b Camberwell John Pudney Son 13 b Tottenham James Pudney Son 10 b Tottenham Edward Pudney Son 7 b Tottenham I also found a death for a William Pudney in Dec Qtr 1870 registered at Edmonton Vol 3a Page 118 I will look tomorrow to see if I can find her on the 1841,but as she was formerly a servant she had probably left home by then,but worth a try.Iwill also look for a marriage. I am Oxfordshire born and bred and I know that even now in the really rural parts of Oxfordshire an H is added to words that start with vowels so that probably accounts for the apparent changes in name. Could you try to find a Woodford family in 1861,1871 census please. Thomas Woodford about 37 in 1861 Mary about 35 John about 9 I was wondering if there were anymore children? They lived at 'Cottage', Sandford in 1881, John was born in Leadwell. Thanks . Sue

Hi Mary. Your thread was past on to me by Jess.... I would be most gratfull if anyone can shine a light on Daniel Overs/Over/Hovers c1830 Salford Oxford. I have him on 1851(Shipston on stour) also 1871(Sedgeley Staffs) but cant find his birth OR christening......He dissapeard on the 1881 and his family changed the name to Hovers!!!! The wife is listed as Widow. Cant find his death either :((( The family change back to Overs later.(my grans maiden name).......... 1000 brownie ponts for this one!
