Hi Rosemary I'm trying to find information on David Chesney aged 29 when he emigrated to America on the Caledonia from Glasgow in March 1908. The image on the Ellis Island website links to the wrong ship's manifest so I can't see where he was going to. A few months later a Georgina Chesney emigrated to join her husband David (don't know if it is the same one but I think it could be). I am looking for people of these names who have vanished from the Scottish records after the death of their baby son in 1907. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks Margaret

Hi Rose, Thank you so much for looking for my William TILLER, in the early hours of this morning. I was not expecting success because he has proved rather elusive, but the Philadelphia Immigration record looks very promising and I will follow it up. Thank you so much. Jeff

Ron, I found George and family on the 1850. I have saved image. Just need your email address. It would be difficult to find out who George's parents were as prior to 1850 only heads of households were named. However, there are lots of Kelly's listed on the 2 pages where I found George. The family right above George and Rebecca is George Sr age 73 and Anne age 63 and a few adult children. This could be Elias's grandparents. Rose

Geoff, Haven't found any Yeoman's (or other spelling variations) on the immigration records that would fit the criteria you supplied. (very detailed). Unfortunately, Mass is not available on the 1900 and William and wife are not appearing on the 1900 anywhere else. They are not on the 1910, 1920 or 1930. Difficult to trace his daughters unless I knew their married name. Ancestry is still updating the 1900 census. I'll keep my eye out for William Rose

Tony, Sorry no luck finding them on the immigration records for Hobkirk (any various spellings) or Wilson. There was one possible record for John Wilson, b 1849 arriving 1879 from England but was traveling alone. Rose

Hi Rosemary, many thanks for your kind offer, have just found wifes GGGrandmother on 1880 census in St Clair, Illinois. Found her husband as a widower in 1900 census in Nevins townshipVigo CountyIndiana. According to census they emigrated in 1879 with daughter Elizabeth and her new husband John Wilson. The census details are as follows, Hobkirk Charles 44 shoemaker ' Elizabeth 54 wife Charles.S. son 18 coal miner Wilson John 30 coal miner ' Elizabeth 21 away from home ' Charles 2 son ' Sarah.A. 7/12 All born in England except Sarah.A. born Illinois. I have tried to access immigration records for new York as I guess that would be where they landed, but without success! Would be grateful for any info on their immigration or the death of Elizabeth between the 1880 and 1900 census's. Best Regards Tony

Jeff, Found an immigration record: Name: William Tiller Year: 1859 Age: 22 Place: Philadelphia Source Publication Code: 1637.12 Primary Immigrant: Tiller, William Annotation: Date and place of application. Country of birth and color of complexion or race of the immigrant are also provided. Other historical information may also be provided. Source Bibliography: DIXON, RUTH PRIEST. Index to Seamen's Protection Certificate Applications, Port of Philadelphia 1824-1861, Record Group 36, Records of the Bureau of Customs, National Archives and Records Administration, Washington, D.C., With Supplement 1796-1861. Baltimore, MD: Clearfield Co., Inc., 1997. 177p. Page: 152 There are no images available for these records. There is a William Teller on the 1860 living in NY, age 23, born in England, occ Seaman. Also living with him is Elizabeth Teller age 22, b Ireland. I am assuming this may be his wife? Or, did you see a different record? Rose

John, The only immigration I can find for Stephen is a return trip in 1919. It does state that he arrived 10 years prior but no records appear for that time. I also checked the Boston passenger lists. I am not finding him on the census records either. On the 1919 immigration under the column asking whether joining a friend or relative, it states - wife, Mrs Armer, 211 Madison Ave, Brooklyn NY. Do you know what his wife's first name is? Was he married before he immigrated? Maybe I can find them from the wife's name. Rose

Hi Rose, Thank you for your kind offer. I would appreciate any help in finding an immigration record for William TILLER, born about 1837 in England and a seaman by occupation. In 1859 he seems to have taken some sort of career break, married, settled in New York and had a daughter before moving back to England in the early 1860s. We think we have him in the 1860 Census of New York as William TELLER. Any information would be marvellous, but thank you for your time anyway. Jeff
