Afternoon Clare, If you haven't had enough already.... I'd be grateful if you could have a look for William Ross in the Elsecar area of Barnsley. He was born in Elsecar, in 1835, according to the 1871 census and went on to live in Hoyland when he was married. I'm afraid I know nothing else about the family to help ID him, only his age and place of birth. Thanks Steve

Hi Claire, Could I be greedy and ask for another look up please. Wondered if Elizabeth Suttron might be with relatives in Topcliffe (just in case there are children with her that I don't know about). Thanks very much. Her maiden name was Gibson, so she might be with Gibsons. Kath. x

Hi Tracy, Leeds also is not possible to search without an address. Leave Ripon with me, its large and spread all over different pages but i will go through it for you. Regards, Claire

Hi Sheila, I do have Sheffield but without and address it would be impossible to search. The 1851 is not name indexed so it is a case of trawling through places. Do you have a possible address at all that i could look at for you? Regards Claire

KathleenBell Report 5 Apr 2005 12:39

Thanks very much for that Claire. At least I can now concentrate my search for the marriage before 1851. The only child I know about up to now is my great grandfather who was not born until 1857, so there may be children before him. I'm very grateful to you for your help. Kath. x

Hi Kim, Do you have your Longstaff family on the 61 at all? Are they in Topcliffe in 71? I have them in Middlesbrough in 81. Where is best for me to search, would it be Topcliffe or Croft? Regards, Claire

I thought it would be. Never mind :) I'll think of someone else you can find for me lol Oohh... how about Siddle's in Ripon? The one I wanted, I have - Robert. He's in Leeds in 1851. I need the rest of his family, which I don't yet have. If you're very bored, would you mind looking in both Ripon and Leeds for me please?

Hi Tracy I am sorry but i dont have Darlington, i am not sure but i think it is on the Durham census. Regards Claire

KathleenBell Report 5 Apr 2005 12:27

Hi Claire, That looks like my William, as Suttron is not a very common name. Did it say whether he was married or not, even if there was no wife with him (just that it will narrow down my search for his marriage to Elizabeth). Thanks very much Kath. x
