Smales - I've seen that and variants more than once, but am so far not inclined to research outside the obvious - there are enough unrelated SMALLs north and south of the Tyne to keep me busy unravelling them. Jenny, Are your Northumberland disks indexed at all, or do you have to look through individual pages? It would be a long job if not indexed, so don't bother... I am after the marriage of a John Watson to a Jane (anybody) probably about 1816 - 1821 He says he was born Moorhouses or North Shields about 1798, and she was born 1800/1801 North Shields. 1831 they have a daughter Jane born Cramlington or Longbenton (she doesn't seem to know). I haven't been able to trawl PRs for her baptism yet - its not on the IGI. The first child I know of is William born 1822 though as he's not named after his father I expect there are earlier children who had left home by 1841. With a name like Watson I'm going to have my work cut out trying to establish which is the right family, so it would be helpful to have a list of marriages to start with, hopefully to cut down the time I need to spend trawling PRs. They moved about a bit 1841-1861 so I am guessing a marriage in Tynemouth is a possibility. I will understand if this is too much for you. Regards Vicky

Hi Jackie. The marriages I gave you all took place in Kings Stanley Parish. There were no other earlier marriages. The entries only give Bride and Groom's name. Occasionaly it does say Son of or Daughter of. I found sometimes it does state if someone came from another Parish, but not sure if this the norm. Jenny.
