ALFRED REID, born approximately 1883, perhaps in Ireland or Scotland or in England. His father was named James Reid and his mother Margaret (nee McLennon). Appears to have joined the Royal Navy before migrating to Australia, then New Zealand. He married Agnes Bailey of Verwood, UK, in Wellington, NZ in 1911. He lists his place of birth in his war records as Manchester, but searches have found nothing. He also gives his date of birth as 29/10/1884, which appears to be inaccurate, as no search has been successful, and does not tie in with the age he gives on his marriage certificate. |
