Trying to find Reid

Ian James Report 30 May 2006 04:26

I am trying to find more information on my father James William Reid. All I know is he said he was born in 1910 in Charlton in UK. he was put into a boys home for stealing bread off the cart.Ran away we think after 2 years, lied about his age to get into the army, served in India at the Khyber Pass and then with the Royal West Kent regiment and was at Dunkirk. We do not know whom his mother or father were or if he had siblings.James immigrated to Australia with my mother Doris and my brother and sister in the 1960s where he died.We cannot find any birth records anywhere for him and his army papers tell us nothing. This is like looking for a needle in a hay stack.
