After the war the Priory building became the officer's mess [CRT130CHI5]. This remained until 1950, when the site was leased to the United States Air Force for use as the base of the 6940th Radio Squadron. The building became Airmen's Quarters, and later, Bachelor's Office Quarters, until in 1971 the upper floors were vacated, apparently as a result of the historic design being incompatible with modern fire safety regulations [CRT130CHI5]. The base itself continued to provide communications and signal intelligence information throughout the Cold War. Various United States Air Force units made use of the base during this time, including the 6950th Electronic Security Group and the 7274th Air Base Group.

So probably he was USAF personnel but could just as easily have been attached civilian staff working there.

A quick look on ancestry shows 235 results for Frank Campbell's born 1941 +/- 10 years, both with and without second initials. They include those with Frank as a middle name and there will be more where F is a middle initial. There will be plenty more if you expand the birth years. Ancestry only goes in blocks of +/- 10 years so you can imagine how many others there might be.

If he was serving in 1971 he could have been somewhere between 18 and 60+ so you can see what a difficult task it would be to find any information without plenty of other information about him.
