Thanks ArgyllGran.

Because I know so little it's difficult to know which baptism might be her.

In 1851 census she gives her age as 27 and her married name at this time was Jane Gurney

I think she marries George Gurney in Sunderland in 1850 and must have a son and daughter from before she was married.

I'll have to leave it for now as I have things to do tonight.

Thanks ErikaH

I've just set a new password on Scotlandspeople (I haven't used the site for nearly 20 years) and found no results the same as you.

I am looking at a family who may or may not be connected to my grandfather whose parents and baptism are a bit complicated and I haven't been able to get further back than his birth in a workhouse. The names in this family could mean they are connected but I could just be clutching at straws. I have had threads about it in the past with no real results.

Thanks for looking anyway.

The nearest possible baptism on SP is this one:

DIXON
JANET
ROBERT DIXON/JENNY EASTON FR282 (FR282)
F
18/03/1827 (Date of baptism, not of birth)
807/20 26
Sprouston

Janet and Jenny can be variations of Jane.

She may not have been baptised in the year she was born.

You can look at the image of the original document on SP for 6 credits - though it probably won't tell you much more (if anything) than is in the transcription above.

Register free with SP, and buy the minimum amount of credits - 30 for £7.50.

Sprouston is near Kelso, and about 55 miles from Morpeth.

Yes, there are Parish records on SP

You can easily check first yourself to see if a baptism is actually recorded

Have you tried familysearch?

Did she marry?

Do you know her denomination (faith-wise)?

Could anyone with credits please look up a birth for me (although the name is common so might not be possible).

Jane Dixon, born c.1824
Father Robert (occ. Hind)
Mother Jane.

In 1841 all three were living in Morpeth, Northumberland but it says they were all born Scotland.

In 1851 Jane says she was born Morpeth (but that could be because that is the only place she knew).

Thanks in advance.

EDIT - just realised that this would be before registration. Does Scotlandspeople have parish baptisms?
