Thank you all for looking into this, i will give it another whirl! I think some of the records i have were not really accurate? I will also forward this info to the lady in France…..she may have better luck than me as obviously language is a bit of a barrier - my French being only basic. Thanks again though :-P <3

HAve you given Family search a go?

Mauritius was a British colony until 1963.

There are some records in the National Archives in Kew:
Réunion (Mauritius) Deaths 1836-1871 RG 35/16

My husbands mother was from Mauritius, of French Ancestry, family name Bouic. He only has one cousin left over there - all others spread all over the world now and this remaining cousin is not communicating/interested. If we have any overseas researchers....does anyone know where I would apply to , to look for records? To complicate the matter, the request for info is from one of his cousin's mum in law....and she is French, has lived in France all of her life! Its a long shot I know but thought it worth trying!
