I’m afraid it was obvious that Victor was illegitimate

You can only add his mother’s family to your tree.

She is still a member.
If she wasn't, her name wouldn't appear at the head of the private message form when you click on her name.

If in doubt, after you've sent your message, click on "Messages" at the top of the page, then on "Sent messages".
If your messages is listed, it's been sent.
If the envelope symbol beside it is green, she hasn't opened it.

Click on her name in green at the top of one of her posts and send a private message.

So long as she hasn't changed her email address without informing GR, GR will notify her of your message. She may then be able to read it and, if you're lucky , reply.

If she does reply, GR will email you a link to access her message.

Also keep an eye on this thread. Lorraine is unlikely to check it or add to it, over 4 years after her last post, but you never know.
GR does not notify people of replies on threads.

Sorry, Sheldon - as no father was named, it's impossible to know who his father was.

There are no male Lamings in Suffolk or Cambridgeshire in 1939

No record of divorce for Kenneth or Marjorie Reeve on the NA website. They indicate that about 80% of records for the relevant period have survived.

Kenneth Reeve lived until 1993, but he is not related to your father....................Marjorie claimed that they were divorced, as is shown on the 1939 register info posted on page one.

However, Kenneth Reeve is shown as 'married' in 1939.

She had two further 'husbands', again as per info posted, although only one marriage record has been found, as you can see.
The info re 'Laming' was added to the register in 1946, so her relationship with the man of that name would pre-date that

Welcome to the boards, Sheldon.

As Lorraine started this thread over 4 years ago, she probably won't look for replies here now
(GR doesn't notify people of new posts on threads.)
You can try sending her a private message by clicking on her name in green at the top of one of her posts.
If she has kept GR informed of any change to her email address, she will be notified of your message, and may (or may not) reply.

Is this your father's birth?

From FreeBMD:
Births Sep 1930
Reeve Victor (mmn Reeve) Bury St.E. 4a 1493

From GRO website:
REEVE, VICTOR -
GRO Reference: 1930 S Quarter in BURY ST. EDMUNDS Volume 04A Page 1493

Do you have a copy of the birth cert? If no father is named, which seems probable from the basic records above, it's unlikely that you will ever know anything about his father.

His father was VERY unlikely to be REEVE.........that was the MOTHER's surname at the time
