This man is a key player in my family's history and I would love to know more about him and hopefully his descendants. Anyone out there on this cold and windy evening?! Thank you.

Oops, for some reason my post didn't publish.
Yes, it says that he was in 'Metal Manufacturing' which ties in with my grandfather who was an International Metal Ore Broker.
We thought that Manasse was the family lawyer and his name appears on my grandmother's Death Certificate in New York ............
I see he had an older wife - story goes that they had a daughter Gertrude ..........

He committed suicide in Paris in 1952, he cut his temporal arteries and neck and wrists with a razor blade.
The only other relative named apart from widow Susanne is a brother Henri Manasse (Manasche) in Haifa, Israel. It suggests Susanne's maiden name was Boguet. No mention of a daughter.
Image on it's way to you.

Might be worth you having a look here - on the attached document Gerard is of the Mercantile Metal and Ore Corp.
http://search.archives.jdc.org/notebook_ext.asp?item=48223&site=ideaalm&lang=ENG&menu=1
The Transmigration Bureau was established by JDC in New York to help refugees emigrate from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg, primarily to the U.S. Its primary role was to accept deposits from friends or family overseas towards the travel costs of Jews emigrating from Europe. Included are deposit cards for 37,732 individuals who emigrated from 1940-1956, with the bulk from 1940-1942.

Thank you all very much for the info on this sad little tale.
As it happens, Gerard Manasse was NOT the family solicitor [so much for the good old 'family whispers'!], but he DID work for the same firm in NY as my grandfather. They were both executives for Mercantile Metal Ore Inc. My grandfather was multi-lingual and travelled worldwide for the firm.
GM remained a family friend after the deaths of my grandparents. At the time of their deaths in July 1945, my father was with the US Army in the European Theater. They weren't cremated until November of that year when my father returned from the War to deal with it all.
