As I posted on the Genealogy Chat thread on the same topic:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/genealogy_chat/thread/1357890

"So indicative of how this site is going down the pan.

Rats jumping a sinking ship jumps to mind .....

Not for one second saying Phil was a rat - he is one of the good guys and shows how little GR thinks/thought of the resources they had on board."

Good luck for the future Phil.

Sorry to hear things haven't been good for you and I truly hope you will be able to find a way of continuing with your passion for genealogy and also for supporting others with the same passion.

It's always the good ones that leave <3

It's very sad that the professionalism, patience and sheer goodwill that has been a major contribution by Phil to those of us that needed his help, will be no longer available..I remember losing my long=standing and popular Derbyshire thread..an the hard work done by Phil to retrieve it.
Thanks Phil and good luck..and I'm sure that we can find your kindness and expertise somewhere in \genealogy if we look hard enough!!

Hi Gins !! xxxx

I think Phil got his message across, loud and clear!

Nice to see that someone cares. Shame he's gone

All the best Phil :-)

Wishing you well for the future Phil.

(hope there ain't anything you're not telling us!)

And just to say thankyou for the GR pencil, you gave me at a WDYTYA show one year, came in handy when felt like 'stabbing' at screen, in days of 'Error Messages' and annoyances, lol.

Dark years, yes, been a few around here, us helpers keep going, flying the flag!, and of course, it goes without saying, if you ever need any help, well, you know where to come, 'Find Ancestors Board', do look in, and ask. (assuming wer'e still here, that is!)

All the best to you.

Chris :)

Dear All, I would like to just pass on my genuine thanks to all the contributors on all the Genes boards, and general members of Genes, and you support :-) and constructive criticisms ;-) while I was technical lead for Genes Reunited. I know it's been three years since I was pulled off Genes, and moved to the Findmypast Tree team, but I never stopped feeling part of the Genes community, and the product and community remain close to my heart. Sadly, the direction of the Findmypast group inc Genes and my own ambitions don't appear to be aligned anymore (not my choice), and so a month ago I left the company. It has been a dark year, but my passion for genealogy and supporting the genealogy community has not changed, and I hope to stay involved in some capacity elsewhere in the online genealogy area. I hope you continue to get the service you want and pay for, and will miss greatly the characters I have come to know over the 5 years I worked at Gr and Fmp. Take care all, and if you want to get in touch with me mail me at this GR account. Best regards Phil. :-) <3
