OK, looking at Isaac Dunn and Letitia again..... this looks like their marriage;

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
-----------------------

Bishop Letitia Stourbridge 6c 157
Dunn Isaac Stourbridge 6c 157

The Letitia remarries;

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

Dunn Letitia Dudley 6c 14
LEES John Dudley 6c 14

This is her with Isaac Jnr in 1871;

Isaac Bishop 10 >> Born Dudley
Emily Bishop 8

Now his sister Emily is born in the same place as Emily who married Thomas W Judge.

Now I can't trace any of the above family after 1871, so I think if I were you I would get the marriage cert for Thomas and Emily.

The nominal census date was 1/6/1850, so they should not appear on the 1850 census. I don't see them on the 1860 (nominal date of 1/6/1860), so I guess Eliz returned with her kids to stay with rellies in the UK.

You say Eliz was a widow in 1861. I would believe Stephen was dead, and just cos he wasn't explicitly named as deceased on his daur's m.cert wouldn't change my opinion. I've heard this lack of "deceased" was not uncommon, but I've not seen enough English m.certs with a dead father for me to say how common it actually was.

Thanks Margee,
I guess that means they are both English but married in USA. Is it possible to find Jane's maiden name?

The Dunns must have married in America? On the 1910 census they say they've been married for 27 years which would make it 1883 and it says that he emigrated 188l and she 1883.

My great grandmother Fanny Louisa Judge was born in New York to English migrant parents about 1855. Her parents were Stephen Judge and Elizabeth Browne from Willesborough in Kent. Her siblings were Thomas William Judge b. c1852 and Annie Maria Judge b. c1857. Elizabeth and the three children are back in Kent with her father in 1861 and she is listed as a widow. When Fanny married my great grandfather James Henry Wood in 1875, her father is listed as Stephen Judge, gentleman – not deceased!
So, first question - did he die or did he stay in the USA and maybe fight in the civil war? Is there any way to find out?
Thomas married Bertha Harvey in Dover in 1873 and they had 8 children together – the first 3 born in London, then 2 in Kent, one in Bootle, Lancs in 1885. Then according to the 1901 census (Bertha died in 1892 and Thomas is married to Emily Shaw) they have a daughter Letitia born in New York in 1886. Their last child was Cecil Stanley Judge b. June 1890 in Cambridge, England
Could anyone with access to passenger lists please have a look for them going or returning either side of Letitia’s birth.?
Letitia arrived back in New York on May 5th 1909 – US citizen, single.
In the 1910 US federal census she is living in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Connecticut with Isaac and Jane Dunn – listed as their neice.
I don’t know who the Dunn’s are!
