Kathryn can find the other thread in her "My thread participation" list without nudging.

For the rest of us, nudging doesn't help unless we're at the keyboard 24/7 and see it contemporaneously.

URLs are so helpful.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/frost/thread/1265327

And multiple threads about a family aren't.

I have just found your new thread.. Only because I typed in a search for the frost family......I see you have added some of the info from that on here too

Patricia

Patricia Report 18 Apr 2011 09:42

I gave the page a nudge so it would appear again too for you.. As long as all the info is on here and not repeated on a brand new thread I would think that would be ok. What do you mean by New Thread....?

You took info from further back on here and brought it forward didnt you.?

Hi, have I messed up again? Not sure now if I've done the right thing, I copied and pasted from the new thread I posted and added it to this initial thread. Hi Pat, am just trying to see if anyone else has any ideas on what you kindly found as I have been looking and can't find anything. Am off to work soon but will be home after 6pm.

Hi, if someone says they were born in Tottenham, North London, this is in 1880 would it come under a county and district as I am trying to find a birth form them and there is nothing on Free BMD with Tottenham as being the birthplace?

Kind regards

Kathryn

Dea

I always put the district in google and add Genuki - this gives the info you need, I think.

I.e. Tottenham + genuki

Who is it you are looking for?

Dea x

Lindsey*

It would just as likely be Middlesex, who are you looking for ? Have you got them on any census ?

Sue C

It will most likely come under Edmonton reg. dist.

Kate

think it would come under Edmonton reg district

Kathryn

Hi all thank you for that. I have (which was kindly found by a dear lady) a Walter Frost and Adele Frost in the 1911 census living at 26 Albion Road, Stoke Newington. Walter Frost gives his year of birth as 1880 Tottenham, North London but I cannot find a birth for him. This is an interesting one as I have been trying to find (with the help of many dear people) a Walter Edward Day who married Marie Isabella Adele Noel in November 1901. They had two children Walter Robert Alfred Day born 1902 and Marie Helene Day born 1905. It was told to me that Walter Edward Day disappeared, have since been with the help of many people looking for him. He was found as being a boarder in the 1911 Census living in Letcworth and stating he was single. Anyhow had been looking for Marie Isabella Adele Day nee Noel, his wife in the 1911 Census and couldn't find her. Dea kindly found something where there is a Walter Frost and an Adele Frost (bear in mind Marie's third name is Adele saying they are married and you will note that Marie Helene Day is visiting at this address. A real mystery again. You will probably have seen my other posts about the Day family but obviously this Frost name has now come up but can't trace anything on it. Can't find a marriage for them (the Frosts) and was trying to find out something about Walter Frost.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Joan

I found a few possiblilties
Walter Frost c 1880 son of Lewis and Annie Frost born Clerkenwell
Walter Frost c 1879 son of Frederick and Fanny born Totteridge
Walter Frost c1880 son of Alexander and Helen born Dalston
Walter Frost c1882 son of Edmond and Elizabeth born Tottenham
All the areas at that time are Middlesex.
Regards Joan

Kathryn

Thanks Joan, it will be difficult to know which birth is his. Am still trying to see if there is a marriage for Walter and Adele but can't find one on Free BMD.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Please forgive me Kathryn,

I have put a few spaces in your message as I for one cannot read it easily:

I can't find your earlier thread on this - can you please post a link on here to it to save people duplicating the work which has already been done.

Thanks,

Kathryn

Thanks for that Dea, sorry I do waffle on when I start and don't stop to think that it maybe difficult for someone to take in all that I've written.

Kind regards

Hi again, you should have been a detective Jonesey, mind you if one googles then as you say you can certainly find out a lot of things. I must try it for myself, this is all very interesting stuff though. Perhaps I'm just being lazy and there's never enough hours in the day, roll on retirement.

Hi Jonesey, I think your shot in the dark is right as someone found Marie marrying Charles Schofield in 1944 albeit I think she would have been around 59 when marrying him but these things happen. My how they lived in those days, people talk about the goings on with the younger generation today. Thanks for all your help.

Trivia:

Edward Rabette would certainly be about the right age to appear in The 39 Steps (Shot in 1935) and The Adventures of Robin Hood (Shot in 1938). Unfortunately he does not get a mention in the cast and production members lists however but then stunt men rarely do.

In the Adventures of Robin Hood the stuntmen wore thick padding and were paid $150 per arrow for being shot by professional archer Howard Hill who played the captain of the archers who was defeated by Robin Hood in the tournament. Splitting the arrow was Hill's feat, too, done in one take with no trick photography.

Isn't it amazing what you can discover by "Googling".
