Thank you Janey, FBG and all who have posted on this thread.

I do hope that one day this side of the family can be found in the earlier census reports. Were the eldest two boys US British subjects or not? if so where on earth were they, etc?

Perhaps, i may never know to enable me to get back further;-(...Oh the joys of family research, lol x

Oops, I forgot to close the tag.

[/sarcasm]

;)

You kibbitzers, find something now!

I know, I know, if I can't find it, nobody can ...

We have John Rumsey getting baptised, his mother getting married (in that order), then a kid getting born in England in the early 1850s and censuses after that, and John Rumsey and Mary (Guinea) Rumsey dying.

Pretty sad.

FBG, you have worldwide Ancestry. Go find them in 1841/51 in the states.

I think I really am going to go pass out on the chesterfield now.

And when did you of all people ever stick to that Janey?Specially the "Not on Chat board?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 18 Dec 2010 21:36

I know I find that a wise policy. ;)

(Most especially: not to post anything on the Chat board!)

Perhaps one day I will learn

NOT TO POST ANYTHING ANYWHERE ---

I know, I should have linked to page 1 (Lisa, I'd posted the link to your thread in another thread where people with FMP access would read it and asked for the lookup). It was just that Lisa had put such awful bumph at the beginning I didn't want to confuse people! ;)

But Renesy, I meant: looking for him in the military records I'd linked to. ;)

Renes

Renes Report 18 Dec 2010 20:50

Sorry Janey
but I read this on your post and looked

""""""""""We're looking for

John Rumsey, probably John Henry Rumsey
born c1817 in Dorset
who eventually married (or not) a Mary Guinea, who I suspect was of Irish origin and may have been born in India """"""""

Will delete - Did not see the baptism record on the thread ----

JaneyCanuck Report 18 Dec 2010 20:28

I am going to start throttling the janey come latelies with their "news" of things that were posted pages back in threads!

That baptism (plus a couple of others of the same unmarried Ann) is the one we are assuming is our John. Ann then married, to Ricks, and I've posted her household in the 41 and 51 censuses ... but no John with.

Thank you so much FBG, and Janey;-)

I was so hoping one of them Johns would be mine, oh well, back to the drawing board.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 18 Dec 2010 19:47

Your welcome..I did check some images to be certain, but as you say,all too young.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 18 Dec 2010 19:45

So that's them all ruled out -- every one is way too young.

Thanks for that, FBG!

Would very much appreciate it.

Lisa

Lisa Report 16 Dec 2010 22:38

Am logging of for the night now, but i will check tomorrow.

Thank you in advance if anyone does get to do the FMP look-up that Janey has found.

Once again Janey and all who have helped, thank you. x

Lisa

Lisa Report 16 Dec 2010 22:10

Thanks again Janey.

Yep am thinking the same ref John being in the miltary. If any of them Johns you have found on FMP....is the right John, then hopefully it will give some clues;-)

I would so appreciate it, if anybody can do a look-up on FMP please:-)
