Hello, I do not have a trial for Find My Past. I think I used it last year, when I was looking to start this process...I did not have any idea where to start , so I wasted the find my past trial. Is there anyone who could tell me if that is the only way to research a census by address.
My William Edmonds 1836 was actually born in Moreton Wood, Shropshire.
William Edmonds 1874 was Congleton.

Thanks,
Deborah

Hi Deb,
Sorry-I got sidetracked yesterday. Meant to get back to the thread.

I'm with Chris all the way on the census findings. (although the 1891 is a hoot-BOA when they are ditto...)

I think your best bet would be to order William's birth and marriage certificates.

Just as an aside:
From the family search beta site:
Name William Edmonds
Gender Male
Event Type Marriage
Birth Date
Christening Date
Marriage Date 09 Jun 1872
Marriage Place Elworth, Cheshire, England
Father's Name Edward Edmonds
Principal's Residence , Elworth, Cheshire, England
Spouse's Name Ann Done
Spouse's Marital Status
Spouse's Residence , Elworth, Cheshire, England
Image Number 701
Digital Folder Number 4019157
Film Number 2262946

It does look as though your William Edward was a twin:
Births Dec 1874
Edmonds Martha Congleton 8a 302
Edmonds William Edward Congleton 8a 302

Deaths Dec 1878
EDMONDS Martha 4 Congleton 8a 225

Maureen,
Glad to have you back. I thought you may have tired of me...
My father passed in 1997, he said there were twins in the family. Glad I finally have something concrete to see. Thanks so much.
In 1903,my William (1874) married Ellen Booth (1876.) This I know for CERTAIN. I thought his father was
William 1836 married Sarah Ecclestone in Shropshire, Drayton.
You know, I am getting so confused and now I am starting to doubt what I thought I had ...
I will order those documents now...it will be a start. Hope it does not take very long.

Hi Deborah,
Not tired of you at all! (my sister-in-law is another matter.....grin)

The certs don't really take a long time to arrive (2 weeks should be about right)..they just seem like they do. And don't start attacking your postman.

Hang in there!

Best,
Maureen

Deborah

Deborah Report 24 Oct 2010 18:32

OOps. I can't seem to find the birth of William and Martha on Cheshire BMD to order the certs....

Thanks, done, ordered...can't wait for it to arrive, I also ordered the marriage of my Grandparents.William and Ellen . That should give me a good start on clarification.
Now for the other side....perhaps you can help me out....Howarth family.
They were from Salford Lancashire area.I can't seem to find the name of wife of Peter Howarth 1853.
He married Sarah Ann Garner in 1888 and had Ethel 1890. However he had 5 other children Mary 1874/ Thomas 1875/ Elizabeth 1876/Samuel 1881/ my gr granddad) and Peter 1883 with someone else....can't find her name?
Thanks again for all you have done...

Good morning,
Thanks again Maureen....my Great Grandfather, Samuel Howarth 1881 is not listed in the family you have here, with Peter and Thurza on Census. The other family member birthdates are all quite close to the same, however, I am not sure we have a match.
I do believe his marriage may have been to Theresa Coates, and I have a death of Theresa Howarth....so that seems a match.
Puzzling about the census though.
Any ideas?

Hi Deborah,
I can only guess that Samuel was born after the census-3 April 1881.

Maureen,
The fact that there was a child listed on the Census in 1881 named Peter 1 year old, was a sticking point. My grandfathers brother Peter was born in 1883. But I think they had a son Peter, he died in 1882 and they named another child Peter in 1883.
Looks that way to me, walks like duck....must be a duck. This looks like a family connection. Thanks very much....again

Maureen,
Could you send me a copy of the 1911 census for Peter(1852) and Sarah Ann Howarth at 112 Fairfield Droylsden...like the one you sent me last week for the Edmonds side of the family. I printed it out and it is great copy.
Thanks,
Deborah

Also, I wonder if any one out there can obtain a different copy of the 1881 census, peter Howarth and his first wife, Thurza are listed at bottom of page, no children but by 1881, they had 3 children....
Thanks,
Deborah
