Frederick Mott born 1900 Cobar married Cecilia O'Connor at Cobar in 1920 - I don't have exact dates for these. Woudl like to know when they both died ? and also if they had any children.

There is a great article and photo of George in the Advertiser on Thursday 14 March 1918 when he was 97 - on page 6. Worth a look!

Mr. George Barber, who died, at his home, Lower North road, Bywell, on Tuesday night, was in his 100th year. He was born at Northampton on December 9, 1820, and migrated to South Australia, where he arrived in August, 1852. He was first employed by Mr. Fisher, of the Reed beds, and afterwards engaged in farming at Loehiel. Mr. Barber was an active worker in the Methodist Church, and was for many years a Sunday school superintendent. The surviving membes of the family are:— -Messrs. C. Barber (Broken Hill); W. Barber (Clare), G. Barber (Seaton Park), and R. Barber (Bute), and Mesdames M. A. Perkins (Peterborough), R. Cronk (Lochiel), E. Harris (Bywell), and G. Harvey (Bute). There are also more than 70 grandchildren and about 50 great grandchildren living.

The Ryerson lookup you need is not the Barrier Miner, it is the Sydney Morning Herald in 1978, and I am sure they will have volunteers for that! ;)

I found children of Henry Freeman (Harry) Nott and Eva Gertrude Barber at NSW BDM's fairly easily. I like this Barber name also as it is prominent in the mining area of Truro and keeps popping up. Their children were Thomas L B Born 1898, Winifred E 1900 , Clarence H 1902, Alan E 1904, Gwendoline 1907 and Lionel A 1910 - all born at B Hill which really helps.

Death of Mr. C. Barber
The death occurred in Adelaide on Saturday of Mr. Charles Barber at the age of 86 years. Mr. Barber was born at Northampton, England, and came with his parents to Australia in the immigrant ship Omega when he was six years of age. At an early age he was carting with bullock teams on the Adelaldo-Burra road, and later worked on the Adelaide-Port Darwin telegraph line. He came to Broken Hill about 1885. For many years there was a well (now silted up) on the old Mount Gipps Station which was sunk by him and which was known as Barber's Well. He left Broken Hill about 15 years ago for Adelaide, and has lived there ever since. He leaves two sons, Messrs. O. C. Barber, of Broken Hill, and A. B. Barber, of Adelaide, and three daughters, Mesdames H. Nott, G. King, and T. Smith, of Adelaide. There are 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. L. Carroll, of Goldsbrough, Mort and Co., Chloride street, is a grandson.

Given the penchant in those days of referring to women as Mrs 'husband's initial' surname...and of course Eva may have gone to her parents' in SA after Harry's death. Which would explain why I can't find her death in NSW!

Brother O.C. Barber would be Oliver Charles - he died in NSW, parents Chas & Hannah.

Cannot get a Ryerson look-up for the paper as they say no--one is available for the Barrier Miner for that period of time.

Seems to be SA connection - and a tree online has a brother of Thomas Brooks Nott as Henry Freeman Nott..., with father Thomas Freeman Nott. There is an article in the South Australian register in 1859 that states Thomas Brooks Nott as a son of surveyor Mr T. F. Nott.

Any connection?

Cannot find birth for Eva Gertrude Barber or Henry Freeman Nott - interested in searching further back with this Nott line to see if it links with my other Nott line.
