Your question

Is this son Wm's death?
8617/1907 MCGUINNESS WILLIAM [f] WILLIAM [m] MARY COBAR

If so, alternativr death for father
972/1906 MCGUINNESS WILLIAM 75 YRS COBAR COBAR

A family direct descendent supplied Williams death as 1907 - unfortunately died just one year after his father.

Marriage
V1849837 79/1849 HANCOCK THOMAS [m] ALLEN ANN C JO

at St Matthew's, Windsor.

Seems a good match location-wise but really need cert/transcription to be certain.

If only I could find death notices! Hmm seems like it is a bit of a tricky one, I know it gets expensive ordering certs but might be the only way on this one. :-(

(At least a marriage cert gives you both sides - death certs only give one and are unreliable anyway! You can use a transcription agent in NSW to only get certain fields and save $)

**This COULD be Mary's birth in NSW, assuming she married very young**
V1855925 159/1855 HANCOCK MARY [f] THOMAS [m] ANN

Younger siblings were born in Bathurst (where she married Wm):
V1850863 50/1850 HANCOCK WILLIAM THOMAS ANN [d. 1913 Blayney]
503/1857 HANCOCK ANN THOMAS ANN SYDNEY
504/1857 HANCOCK THOMAS THOMAS ANN SYDNEY [d. 1893 Blayney]
4442/1858 HANCOCK EMMA THOMAS ANN C BATHURST
4897/1861 HANCOCK HENRY E THOMAS ANN C BATHURST [d. 1929 Cobar!]

Thos snr's death?
5565/1883 HANCOCK THOMAS [father] THOMAS DIED BATHURST BATHURST

Yes I agree the children are addition siblings to Thomas and children of William McGUINNESS and Mary HANCOCK. How can I find out who both their parents are other than buying the marriage certificate ?

(I think HIlda's husband was James, not Jane! Looking a death of a son James in 1915 in Cobar...)

Ah, thanks Pat.

I wonder then if the whole family moved to Nymagee arund mid-1880s, as these look to be another 4 chn of Wm & Mary:

19484/1885 MCGUINESS DAVID J WILLIAM MARY NYMAGEE
21484/1888 MCGUINESS JOHN J WILLIAM MARY NYMAGEE
26481/1890 MCGUINESS HILDA WILLIAM MARY A NYMAGEE
35197/1895 MCGUINNESS CHARLOTTE M WILLIAM MARY A NYMAGEE

There were chn born to a Wm & Mary A in Nyngan but they did not marry until 1893 so I believe these are 'your' Wm & Mary's chn.

They could not have been Wm jnr's chn as he was only born in 1880 himself!

Here's marriages in Cobar that seem to confirm:
4681/1910 MCGUINNESS JOHN J [m.] MILLEN ESTHER E COBAR
8247/1910 WRIGHT JANE [m.] MCGUINNESS HILDA COBAR
11671/1914 MURRAY CHARLES V [m.] MCGUINNESS CHARLOTTE M COBAR

Edit: Mary's death?
6473/1900 MCGUINNESS MARY [f] THOMAS NYMAGEE

This is what I have on Thomas Mc GUINNESS. He was born 1874 Forbes and married Sarah Jane smith 21/4/1902 CANBELEGO NSW. They had a children and lived at COBAR NSW. The NYMAGEE NSW connection goes from his brother William's line.

I think William died at COBAR NSW BDM 972/1906.

Thankyou for the extra child born just after the marriage in 1871. I think Emily could be Thomas's sister. His brother William married Effie May BRAY 1904 at NYMAGEE.

Thanks

-

Any connection to the Nymagee McGUINNESS'?

Emily McGUINNESS, daug of Wm & Mary, died there in 1896. Also several births to a Wm & Mary in Nymagee.

???

You may need to order Wm & Mary's marriage certificate.

Hi Cherilyn,

Thank you so much for looking.
Yes I had seen the notice. I don't know what the Queensland connection is I was hoping you might be able to help there:-) I was thinking that it could have been one of his brothers. Mary's last name is Lake. The father John had 3 stores in London 77 Cornhill, 230 Regent Street and 67 The Strand. I have seen an advert that does say that their watches, clocks etc are popular in India, Australia and sold to the King of Italy and had won several exhibition awards. I assume that both John Thomas and George were in Australia as agents for the company.

Appreciate your help

Liz
