To be honest, it beats me..If i've got it right the following is the case:

If i've got it right......WILLIAM BARTROP was baptised Worksop 1785....he married SARAH BARK at Worksop 10.12.1812...

!851 says she was born 1788 .at that place wot don't exist..but at least in Derbyshire.....

1841 give her and William in Worksop....she is born "not in county"..which supports her being born in Derbyshire......There is onlt one SARAH BARK in the right place at the right time......SARAH BARK..baptised 21.08.1789..at Wirksworth......daughter of thomas and Lydia........

The nearest alternative is Sarah Bargh at
Langwith.1794..close to Worksop......

I doubt that wirksworth could be corrupted to Honey whatsit..but Langwith could..just..if you have the same sort of tortured brain as I have......

1861 would have given a clearer look at the name..but she weren't around no more............
I'll let you know if i can do better..
EDIT....she IS around inn 1861..guess what..origin.."not Known"..don't see that one too often!!.....I'd settle for Wirksworth!

Wendy is also very kindly doing me some Bartrop searches in the Nottingham area.

I am doing this tree for my b in law who with my sister has been very supportive to me. The reason I have not been on here so much is that my husband died very suddenly in January and I am only just starting to pick up the pieces again.

It is a bit of a challenge as his paternal line is Smith!

Jen..it IS an H....because I compared it with a definite H on the previous page..........but having been all through the aiches in the Atlas......nothing remotely like it.........now i'm trying phonetics.....possibly when I've had a few scotches!!

I've had a total senior blackout and lost a piece of Derbyshire, all I can visualise is a giant black hole and it's all my fault. So I thought while you've got your old atlas out trying to solve Jennifer's mystery you might be able plug the gap before anyone disappears down pit.
Marsden Moor Staveley should be near Mastin Moor, but I can't find it in any of my atlases. I think it was probably stolen by the Yorkies with the rest of the NE. All I can find on google is the one below the M62 near Saddleworth Moor. Surely they didn't move it that far NW so we couldn't claim it back.

.Hello again..Warwick...........MASTIN MOOR has always been just that...I have an 1870 map showing it as Mastin Moor.

MARSDEN MOOR is a tourist attraction taking in most of the Pennine area between Huddersfield and Manchester...including Saddleworth..been there many times..It extends down towards the High Peak in Derbyshire..and a small part of it claims to be in Derbyshire..there is no Marsden Moor at Staveley and never has been.

MARSTON MOOR was the famous Civil War battle near York......from whence I originally came.

There are genealogical entries for Marsden Moor Staveley..but like much of the early Census information it is erroneous.

Mastin Moor is off Junction 31 of the M1 at Barlborough....a couple of miles before Staveley..with its own Miners Welfare!

I don't think there is a black hole..but if you find it, tell me, and I'll throw myself into it.

Perhaps there is hope after sixty. I thought I had begun to lose my few remaining marbles. I cycled over Mastin and Saddleworth and even the NT sight at Marsden dozens of times in my early teens, somtimes on route to the annual holiday in Wales. Try as I might I could not remember Marsden Moor yet their are dozens of references to it in the Staveley PR's, and also as you say in some census transcripts. Thanks for that, at least I haven't quite lost it yet - unless of course we're both on the slippery slope!
Just received the bumper pack of Dby census today 41 to 01 lots of v late nights ahead I think!

Edit 2300 Title page enumeratars book 1841 Reg District Eckington Enumeratar No 15 That part of the said parish of Staveley known by the name of Hague Lane and MARSDEN MOOR. Bang go the last of the bldy marbles. Hague Lane led to Hague Common I presume.

Warwick....don't lose your marbes or jump down any black holes.....Hague lane runs out of Renishaw southwards till it becomes renishaw Rpad out of MASTIN MOOR..always did..always will.........
If there ever was a Marsden Moor at Staveley it changed its name to Mastin Moor before 1870,don't do your head in worrying about the millions of errors you will find in your brand new bundle of derby Censuses.
Having just made a very appropriate telephone call |i can tell you categorically there never was a \marsden moor at Staveley..........Incidentally MARSDEN MOOR is very good local Marsden's Beer!

Where did you get them from by the way?? The \censuses i mean.

Derek, Got them from S&N, ordered sunday arrived today. Could really do with a pint of Marsdens right now. Just found that loose cannon Elizabeth and her illigits we were looking at a month or so ago, living on Marsden Moor Staveley in 1841. Head exploding!

Remember we couldn't find anything on Mary Revil (or Spell It) a couple of months back, well I found her on the new toy by accident last night. Spelling is correct 1841 Female Servant to William Glossop a farmer at Woodthorpe, I then found her intended George B. (wayward lizzies eldest) lodging nearby in Woodthorpe, working as an Agricultural Labourer.
I thought not having a name index would be a real pain, but it's turning out to be a bonus, I've already found half a dozen 'strays' living in lodgings just on last nights quick flick through. Not bad Eh!

As i mentioned to you before i think she is the daughter of Abraham Sison [ Syson] and Hannah Farnsworth, although her father is named as Edwin on her marriage certificate

I have found listed on family search children of Abraham and Hannah, some are christened at the primative methodist Ilkeston
Children Elizabeth 1850, Mary 1852, Ann 1854, Eliza 1856, Hannah M 1858 [i wonder if this is who i am looking for] Fanny 1862 [Frances] Abraham 1864- 1888 , Ellen 1865 [bapt 1870], Caroline 1868 [bapt 1860] Betsy 1870

I have found in 1871 Elizabeth Sisson 1850 lodging43 Awsworth Rd Ilkeston,with Marina Sisson ??? [MARIA ] Parents at 81 Awswoth Rd.

Could you see if you can find any info on this family which would help me once and for all confirm this is my family
the only thing i have to link them is Hannah's daughter listed 1911 with her aunt Betsy [married name Murden]
We only knew gggrandmother as Maria untill we saw her will. Maybe they all used different names !!

Can you help me please? I'm looking for the wife of Mathew/Matthew Fletcher born abt 1800, Dale Abbey, Derbyshire. According to the census she is called Elizabeth born about 1802. I'm guessing they were married about 1820 judging by the childrens ages. Cannot find any entries for a marriage on the websites I subscribed to.

After breaking one side of a brick wall, by buying a parrish record, i find the name i needed should be Elizabeth Melbon/Malbon not Melton.

Anyway as Elizabeth was underage, her fathers name is on there, Daniel Malbon (bonus eh)

I am hopeing you have records for Snelston Derbyshire (1851 census) and can confirm Daniels baptism and marriage to Esther Rider, as i cannot find them on Familysearch or Freereg

Daniel Malbon bap 13 Jan 1782 .. married 11 Nov 1805

Hello Sylvia..........yes I can confirm the baptism and Marriage dates for Daniel Malbon.at Snelston Parish Church .....he died in 1857.It is Esther Ride..not Rider.
Just for a change i'm not going to write out reams of dates and siblings, because..again for a change, the MALBON Tree on Ancestry is well-researched and documented, and is to be commended....and since you obviously have access to Ancestry private member Trees..I can reccommend that you use the info thereon...and believe me its ain't often i do reccommend Ancestry Trees.

Hi julie..........struggling here a bit..because although Matthew Fletcher is well documented on Census returns..as are his wife and children..I cannot find any mention of his marriage.
There is something odd going on..because i was sure that his wife was ELIZABETH (Ann) GILLATT.........but all the documentation shows her married to a William Fketcher.(who also came from dale Abbey)

You may have noticed that Matthew was from Dale Abbey, and his children were born at Dale Abbey..but Elizabeth was from Codnor (Heanor)..But it now appears that she was not married there..as was usually the case.

there are Phillimore marriages for Dale Abbey but they end at 1813..so I looked for a Fletcher marriage there for possible parents of Matthew.....seeing as he was apparently born there........no go

There is an Ancestry Tree showing Matthew married to Elizabeth Gillatt..with the correct children. 18.11.1824 Heanor..which is spot on for the first child.....

It's a bit of a mystery...there are parish records for Dale Abbey...but I don't have them..so a trip tp Matlock records office is on the cards..if it ever stops raining!!

Hi Derek - apologies!!!!!!!!!! took some time to get here - it seems back to front to me - had to go to page 88! Sorry must be me being impatient- i have joined gr for a second go = got very frustrated last time as I led myself down wrong road a few times. The message was in my drafts so I thought it had not gone to you- anyway enough whinging, many thanks for your info.
George and Rachel had several daughters - it has been passed down that one of them ran away to the circus in Ireland but not had any success ffinding which one it was a hush hush thing. I know it was not Emily so I thought i could try and trace others to see if they got married and stayed in Staffs/Derbys. Can you help? Many thanks again.
