Hello LA Ok..Night shift starts here..just going to bed when Her Majesty the Gooner makes her usual Royal Commands!!
FRANCIS RICHARDSON baptised 1.07.1790 Glossop son of \henry and Mary. married SARAH HEGINBOTHAM Glossop 31.07.1809 (Impossible to search her pedigree becasue there are loads of Sarahs with various versions of the Higginbottom surname..They like their bottoms up in Glossop!!..Winterbotttom/Rowbottom/Sidebottom..and more and all their variants!!!)
The children were all baptised at Mellor......
Henry 28.04.1815 Solomon 01.12.1822 John 28.06.1825 Thomas 13.01.1828 JOSEPH 27.06.1834.
I'm quite well-blessed with records for the area..so if you want to expand this then just ask........and now Madam may I please have the rest of the night off???? EDIT 00.45...I took you at your word about FIVE children..but then decided there might be more before the 1841 Census......Bingo... Elizabeth 07.0.1819 and William 11.06.1820.fitting nicely into gaps.. FURTHER EDIT Thurs,14.27........You said you were mainly interested in JOSEPH RICHARDSON..........well..
He became a Tailor and moved to Blackburn lancashire..where he married MARY ELLEN PICKUP at Blackburn St John in 1861.
Mary Ellen was the daughter of Thomas and Ellen Pickup..was born 03.08.1841..baptised Blackburn St Mary the Virgin 12.09.1841.
our interest in Joseph will unfortunately have to be short-lived.....he was living with the in-laws in 1861....Mary Ellen Richardson was back with her parents in 1871 ..as a widow.. In the meantime Mary Ellen and joseph had a daughter ELLEN..apparently born 1866 in Bourne Lincolnshre......JOSEPH RICHARDSON died sometime between 1866-1871.

HMM Derek, I have different info on Joseph from my cousin so I don't think the Mellor one is mine.Mine married Margaret Skirrow in Lancaster who then died and he married Catherine Terry and produces 3 children one of whom was my Grandmother Annie.
Thank you so much for your time and it's back to the drawing board for me , going to ignore my cousins info in future until I check it out thouroughly :-(

Hey Gooner....this is terrible!!.......I've found the marriage of JOSEPH RICHARDSON to MARGARET SKIRROW on BMd,s...JAS 1847...
Have found what MIGHT be her Baptism 08.05.1827 St mary's Lancaster...daughter of John and Jenny Hathornthwaite..who married 01.10.1807.which makes Margaret probably the youngest of several children.........but no certainty about this one...........becasue you'd think that in 1841 she'd be still with her parents..but she wasn't..she is in a large establishment as a Domestic Servant.
Then you'd think I'd find Margaret Richardson bc1828 on the 1851....nope!!
So the only way to go is to work backwards........You don't tell me where Joseph came from..presumably not any longer Derbyshire.......we only have about 60 Joseph Richardson born five years either side of 1833...so.....
Do you know when he married Catherine Terry?? and where..... Do you know when and where Annie Richardson and the other two children were born???????
Then i can work backwards......
Derek.

Derek, You are an absolute star !!! you have unwittingly given me some information that I have long since drawn a blank on, that's the date of John and Martha Reeve's wedding and also Martha's maiden name. John was buried at hope in 1900 and Martha in 1902, the vicar there gave me that information but neglected to give me the grave number. John and Martha had been regular worshipers at Little Hucklow Methodist Church, they raised my grandmother ( they were her great grandparents ) and she used to attend with them, she lived with them until they died. I believe that in summer they used to go to Church on Sunday evenings at St. Peter's Hope, so they seem to have had a foot in each camp. Elizabeth their daughter married Sam How at St. Edmunds Castleton on June 21st 1875. Thankyou for the work you have done, and in such a short time, I really appreciate it. Kind regards. Harry.

Annie and her brothers were born in leeds, Joseph on the census says he is born Derby. Catherine Terry 2nd wife born 1855 Thirsk. i do not yet have their marriage but will try and look for that. a guideline might be the firstborn son Harry born 1886 Leeds. As far as I can work out Margaret died about 1885.
Thank you

LA..GOT THE B.............!!.....Almost certainly..but must do some work to confirm...........Got him married to Margaret in 1861 in Lancaster..he is a shoemaker born Derby 1836...... On that basis he may well have been living at 61 King Street Derby in 1851..with his father PETER RICHARDSON widower..a SHOEMAKER!!!!
I'll do my usual fine tooth jobbie..but its got to be ain't it?????
I have him with Catherine in Leeds with the three children 1891 and 1901...... ..but the marriage to Catherine TERRY is nowhere on \Yorkshire Bmd.s between 1860 and 1890..and it shoud be!!..was Terry her maiden name??? probably cos she's 20 years younger than him..Old Goat!!
But we might be getting there..

I know :-D thats what I meant.
Anyway an update. I have found a baptism for Catherines son Harry which states his father as Henry Terry so it seems she was married before . Also found the baptisms of Peter and my Grandma Annie. That has not helped any way in finding the bloomin marriage of Joseph and Catherine though :-|.
edit. Puzzling over if she married a cousin as I have her father as Thomas Terry. Hmmm the plot thickens

Edit.... Got them on 1881 census 80,Green Stret Leeds with 3 kids .

Hi Derek, I wonder if you are able t throw any light on the Beeley Family? Many branches have tried to ascertain whether we come fromthe village of Beeley on the Chatsworth Estate, however we have never shown this (although my GDad (Samuel Beeley B:12/9/1859 illeg. Barnsley) did work there. I have traced mine back to Leeds where the mother of Samuel - Esther Beeley was born in 1842. Esther and Samuel moved to Sheffield and later Samuel married Ruth White of the Whites of Nether Padley. There were quote a few Beeleys in Sheffield and qite a fdew of them moved to Derbyshire but I can't find them.
Also, Ruth Beeley (nee White B 1863 Hathersage) had lots of siblings that I lost track of in Buxton - careless of me I know! Father: George White b ca 1830 Nether Padley Mother: Mary Ann nee Hancock b ca 1831 Grindleford Bridge Ruths siblings: Ann E b: ca 1856 Charlottte b: ca 1857 Georgina b: ca 1859 Frank b: 1860 married Sarah Crowther 1884 Eliza b: ca 1862 Ruth - as above 1863 Kezia b: ca 1865 Emily b ca 1868 Ketura b 1870
All these girls but what great names! Haven't managed to find anything about them with reards to marriages or deaths.
Sorry - I do waffle! Lesley ;-)

Hi lesley..as one waffler to another..greetings..but i haven't the faintest idea what exactly you are looking for.......
Having said that i have been looking at the WHITE family of the area of which you waffle..
I have no idea where you are..but if you're not local, you might like to know that Grindleford Bridge,Hathersage,Nether Padley are all within spitting distance of each other in the Parish of Hope.......or of EYAM.....
They are not to be found at Hope..but anyone born in that area would have been baptised or married at either hope or Eyam........and it was Eyam........
GEORGE WHITE baptised Eyam 02.05.1830 son of Thomas and Barbara. MARY ANN HANCOCK waas baptised 21.08.181 at Eyam daughter of Francis and Ann
I do have the Eyam records so i can take both of these further back if you want.
George and Mary Ann were married at Eyam 28.01.1855.
No then.... George and Mary Ann moved around a bit because their children were born as follows:-
Ann 29.07.1855 Eyam Charlotte born 22.11.1856 baptised 15.02.1857 Eyam Georgina 1859...date unfound..Sheffield Frank 07.05.1861 Sheffield Eliza 1862..Eyam..date unknown because my baptism records for Eyam and at 1860 RUTH 20.08.1865 Hathersage Kezia 26.08 1866 Hathersage Emily 18.07.1868 Hathersage Keturah 04.12.1870 Hathersage.
which doesn't do much for your Beeley question..but I'm on to that next...........
Derek.

Hi Derek, I am not a million miles away in Cheshire, and absolutely adore Derbyshire. I would move to Litton in a heartbeat.
George's older brother Thomas (different mother) ran the hostelry which became The Grouse Inn.
I guess with the Whites I was wondering if you could find any marriages for the girls. thanks for the info regarding their baptism records.
The Beeleys - anything in and around Beeley would be interesting.
Ta , Lesley

Hi Lesley.........
There are no Beeleys in Beeley......and the other parish on the Chatsworth estate is Edensor.no Beeleys there either.......
Esther beeley's family all came from Yorkshire.
Samuel and Ruth Beeley lived in Buxton derbyshire, but i can't find their marriage, which was probably in yorkshire..becasue their first child was born in Sheffied 1888..as was Edith 1902...............in between we have:-
Florence Ann born Buxton 12.01.1894 Frank born Buxton 15.11.1895
both baptised Buxton 18.12.1895
The only marriage i can find for the children of GEORGE WHITE (wheelwright/Carpenter) and Ruth .are as follows:-
Eliza Jane White married William Davies at Buxton 09.05.1893
Charlotte White married Thomas Baggaley at Buxton 16.03.1881
Georgina White married William Stennit Plane at Buxton 04.05.1885
..all three girls had father George White a wheelwright/carpenter. EDIT..some of Samuel Beeley's stock ended up in Stockport Cheshire!!

Hi Lesley..just a little bonus for you:-
CHARLOTTE WHITE who married THOMAS BAGGALEY (a Baker from Newark Notts) had the following children:-
EDITH ANNIE 1.08.1882 BERTHA 07.12.1884 Helen Gertrude 1887..died 0.06.1887 probably unbaptised) ALBERT 1890 at Flintham Notts
(Flintham is near Newark)
On the 1901 Census Charlotte has two further children..
KETURAH 1892..Beeston Nottingham FLORENCE W 1895 Nottingham
Charlotte (a dressmaker) is there without her husband..although she is shown as Married rather than Widowed.so whether Thomas died between 1895-1901 is yet to be found.
Haven't found anything as yet about Eliza Jane or about Georgina
EDIT 14.51..another little snippet: 1911..Charlotte IS now a Widow..(a costumier!!)..in Nottingham wiith her four children...AND FLORENCE WHITE..her sister unmarried..which explains why I couldn't find a marriage for her.
They were living at 4 Park Avenue West Bridgford Nottingham.....which I'm aure still exists.if you Google the address..and zoom in on the "Street View"..you may find the exact house!!......YEP..found it..a small Victorian semi..go look! Derek
