Linda.I'm sorry..i have no idea about anything after 1911..my "expertise" is built on Parish records..before and after 1841: backed up by census returns..from 1841 - 1911......and several other sources that run out long before 1911..

I have to admit I cannot help you..........though next time i go to Matlock records Office i'll ask for expert help on your behalf.

Derek.

Hi Joyce.......here are the details of Thomas Fox side of the equation...I see your tree includes details of later threads..so i'll stick to his parentage for the moment.

If you need anything more..just let me know.

THOMAS FOX baptised Longford 27.06.1798..son of Daniel Fox.

He married MARY ROBERTS 12.11.1820 at Derby..

among their children were THOMAS 25/07/1824..and:
Phyllis 1832
Mary 1835
Elizabeth 1836
George 1840..........

Your tree will look most impressive once you've added all I have told you.

All the best

Derek.

Hi LA..second attempt tonight.......bear with me...you'll be glad to know that your Richard and William Allcocks are related.....by two generations........

Just by way of introduction really..details to follow...........I have both thye Spondon and the Boylestone Parish records..so you can rejoice in the splendour of what i am going to give you..Measham free!!

RICHARD ALLCOCK married ANN KERRY 14/10/1793 at Spondon........Kerry family very strong in Spondon.....
fpr some reason they moved across the River Trent into Butterton Stafgfs where their son RICHARD ALLCOCK was born 1797..he died in derby 02.02.1863.

He married ELIZABETH LEESON 19.07.1824 at Boylestone (witness John Leeson..her father i think)
thye had hundreds of kids.details on request..between 1824 and 1846..including at least two replacements for infant deathes..all at Boylestone.....substantiated by the` fact that father Richard is lways a Bricklayer,,,,,,WILLIAM ALLCOCK is one of FOUR!! children baptised on 28.06.1846..the other being Elizabeth..James..Samuel.......common prectice in the 1850's to baptise en bloc..irrespective of birth date........which mean that we actually do not know the DOB of William who married Elizabeth (of hatton) in 1858......
If born 1843 as you surmise..then it is not impossible to marry in 1858 (by parents consent)..It happened all the time.....

I'll taje another look at this tomorroe when i am less cream-crackered...(if you're a very well bred lady the it rhymes with knackered!!)

Joyce Report 22 Jan 2011 02:21

Thank you Derek.
Could you advise me on the best way to apply for copies of all these records in Derbyshire.

Much appreciated
Joyce

Derek

Derek Report 22 Jan 2011 12:57

Hello Joyce....since it was before 1837, you won't get Birth Certificates or Marriage certificates..........the best you can get is either photocopies of original Parish records entries which are on micro-fiche...or a handwritten facsimile from the local records Office.which in this case is Matlock....and many of the earlier records on microfiche are virtually unreadable.
Anything after 1837 will have Certificates which can be purchased from various sources.

all the best

Derek.

Derek Report 22 Jan 2011 13:13

Hello LA.....just to impress you further I have found the marriage of William to Elizabeth.

WILLIAM ALLCOCK married ELIZABETH WHITTAKER at Church Broughton 16.03.1887....husband aged 43 wife aged 29 (lucky old sod!!)

William had been living at Church broughton for the best part of 20 years..and by 1891 had moved to Hatton..a few miles away..

Two children by 1891..probably more later if you want me to look on 1911..

Lillian 1888
and Sidney 1890

So i think that completes what you asked me to find..but I do have a complete history of all the people involved KERRY LEESON and ALLCOCK with all their marriages and children.....let me know if you want them....

...you might notice that I am being dragged inexorably south..from Boylestone..Spondon..Church Broughton..Hatton..........it'll be bleedin' Repton next!!

Ho Ho...

LOL Derek, Meashams seemed to marry everyone in Repton eventually so nothing would surprise me LOL

Derek Report 23 Jan 2011 15:11

Hello Janet.....James is easy enough..but will need his wife's maideb name..
EDIT 15.43 Sunday............ok..by trawling through all the Derbyshire Beatrice's married Derbyshire 1902..I havefound your marriage.

Easy enough to find James Oct/Nov/Dec 1902.......then log Volume and Page Number..then find a Beatrice married on the same day thereby ensuring the same Vol/Page number.....and Bingo

The lady in question is BEATRICE ELLIOTT born 1877 Derby..daugher of William and Patience....
and the ref number for both is Volume 7b..Page 1163..which will enable you to purchase a marriage certificate.

Good luck.
Derek.

Dear Derek,
Cynthia has suggested I look at your thread, and at last I have found it. Please look at the Cotton site: the latest addition is my first request on this site. Can you help at all? My difficulty is that I live in West sussex and cannot get to Matlock or Nottingham easily.
I can open my tree to you if you request it.
Best wishes,
Yours Christopher Cotton

Derek

Derek Report 24 Jan 2011 23:21

Christopher.......more than happy to help you..........but I have no idea what you mean by "the Cotton site"....so if you send me a specific enquiry about some member of your family then we can go from there........and yes..a look at your Tree would probably be very helpful
