Thanks Claire. He may have been in Canada at some stage but he married 1922 in Denver and had at least 2 children as I mentioned earlier.

Yes, families very commonly did name a child after an earlier deceased child. So many died in infancy.

There are many instances in my own tree.

So sorry to hear about Julie RIP

Was it quite usual for Victorian families to name a child after a deceased sibling, as I suspect this may have been a child to John & Fanny

Mark Adams Hambly b Q3 1877 d Q4 1878 aged 1

I can't assume without certs I know

I have just spotted a Canada to USA border crossing for a Susie W Hambly which looks like a strong possibility

Travelman

Travelman Report 16 Jan 2015 14:07

Recently, I have been working on the 20 children born to John Hambly and Fanny Oke and have made a lot of progress. However I would like some more help with the following ..... all births are registered in Bideford, Devon

Mark Adams Hambly b 1886 Q3

It would appear from Familysearch Mark emigrated c1904 and settled in Denver, Colorado. In the 1940 Census it looks as if he had married Goldie M Gerlick b Michigan and had children Virginia H Hambly b c 1926 and Martin b c1929.

I have a death for him in Colorado 1942, which I also spotted on a UK press archive confirming he was the son of John and Fanny.

Titus Edward Hambly b 09.04.1883

Immigration to the USA c1905
1910 Census living in Multnomah, Oregon
1920 Married to Sadie ??
1930 Still in Multnomah but divorced
Death 01.09.1969 Multnomah

Susannah Warmington Hambly b 1880 Q3

She appears on the UK census records 1881 1891 1901 but I can not see her after that, could she have emigrated too?

If there is anything else you can find for these 3 I would be most grateful. I will check the thread regularly in case you have any questions.

Thank you!
