Lots of possible James Reids in Scotland on the 1861 census. You really need his father's name and occupation from his marriage certificate to narrow the search. If he used the normal Scottish naming pattern it looks like his father may have been Alexander but again too many to choose from without an occupation.

i have got a alexander as a possible for his father,and his occupation was a mechanic/engine fitter so i don't know if is the same one thanks lesley
