Hi
I have just started tracing my family history and had great success tracing male relatives. I am trying to trace my grandmother's family and can't seem to to find her registered birth despite knowing her date of birth and place (27th March 1917 York Yorkshire). I believe she was born in a place for unmarried mothers. So I assumed the mother's maiden would be Cooper. I know she was brought up by her father's family. She could have taken her father's name (could have been Cooper) and in that case would it be impossible to trace her? I would appreciate any help. Thank you
