Stupido has finally got it!

No no, I'm a reflector and it has taken me some time to think about this. Viv, I get you with regards to the deleting threads from a public one, like the one that we are writing on now.

Buuuut...when you go on a thread (as in not yours) it puts this into your personal threads box. This is the one that I am wondering if you can delete even if it is NOT your thread origionally?

Dont fall out with me caus you think I'm a numpty Viv!

Cheers

No. I think that's the answer. What was the question?

"My Threads" is a list of all the threads you have posted in. Whether you started the thread or not.

It has a purpose! It's so you can *find* the threads you have posted in. This is a good thing!!

As a thread gets old and has no new posts, it drops down the list. Whenever a new post is added to a thread you have posted in, it goes to the top of the list. That's how you tell there are new posts in a thread you have posted in. And that's because you might want to *read* the new posts!

Those threads in "My Threads" are on the GR site. Not on your computer. Nothing is on your computer.

All that list does is show you where you have posted! That's all! Really!

Now -- I have very, very, very rarely got tired of seeing a thread in "My Threads". That's when it's a thread on Chat or General that goes on for weeks. Sometime early in the thread I added a comment to it. But the thread itself has long since ceased to interest me, and I get tired of seeing it in my list. It isn't hurting anybody. It's just annoying me.

So I have gone back and found my post or couple of posts in the thread in question (which will now be a couple of dozen pages long) and deleted them. Nobody's going to read them now -- everybody's reading page 37 of the thread, and my post is on page 3. Nobody will notice it's gone, and the thread will stop appearing in my list.

But other than that, I would never delete a thread or post just to get it out of my My Threads list. There just is no reason on earth to do that! And I have much better things to do with my time. Very important things, don't you know. Like the work I should be doing now ...
