Another thought, have you been in touch with Gerald Irwin - he also has John and his mother in his tree here on GR?

It may be impossible to arrive at a marriage without getting loads of certificates - unless he was in a protected occupation he would have been enlisted towards the end of the war. Many men were displaced around the country and married out of their home area - even though some later returned to their area of birth. He may never have married.

Have you tried talking to family members - jog a few memories? It may be your best hope.

Hi Susan

Yes, John is my Mum's cousin and My Mum 's Dad *(My Grandad) is John's Mother's brother.

So John would be my cousin too if I have that worked out right

Thank you.

Hi Susan, it's the marriage that is wrong - she is trying to trace down from her great aunt.

What I ment was is John a relative of yours so you know for sure who his parents were.

Either the birth cert is not the correct one or it is the marriage cert that is wrong.

That property was last sold 28/7/2006 (for £385,000), so if you could find someone local or speak to the records office you may be able to get an ER check.

Hi Susan

I can't see him in Burpham on 192 - you can do free searches, just have to pay to view records.

Hi Flip

Yes he has, on John's Mother's death cert John's address is 296, London Road, Burpham, Guildford, Surrey, in 1990.

I am many miles from that area now.

I am not a member of 192.com.

Thank you very much.

Did John record his full address when he registered his mothers death? I don't know whether you are still local, but it may be worth checking out the electoral rolls to see if there was anyone else registered there. Also, try a google search on the address to see if Zoopla picks it up - you may be able to find out when it last changed hands.

Have you tried 192.com??

Can I ask you how you got to John Cullen bn 1926

Edit
To me either the birth Cert is the wrong or the marriage cert is the wrong one

I have the marriage cert in my hands for the Archer name and the 2nd one you have put on I am really not sure but it could be another possibility.

Thank you.

You have him alive in 1990, registering his mother's death and I can't see a death 1990-2006 with anything like the right birth date - the nearest on was in 2002 but he was recorded with birth date May 1924.

Bearing in mind it looks like his parent were long lived, he may still be around.
