Yes, Victor that is what I think too as I found the above marriage in 1908 for Mary Elizabeth Fullwood and it's not to a Mr Devine

Catherine

That is what I am trying to find out too. I do not think that Mary Elizabeth is the correct person, as the record for the marriage just says Mary Fullwood.

Gillian, my concern is that it didn't show Mary Elizabeth Fullwood on the marriage cert and I've found this marriage
Marriages Dec 1908
DICKSON Edward Thomas Basford 7b 385
>>>FULLWOOD Mary Elizabeth Basford 7b 385
GREEN Helena Basford 7b 385
HAYWOOD Amos Basford 7b 385

People

What we know so far.

1.) Mary Fullwood married Samuel Devine Oct-Dec 1911

2.) Mary Devine birth Apr-Jun 1912 (no fathers name)

Now there are only two reasons why the fathers name is not listed (as far as I am aware) a) The fathers name was not known. b) The mother did not wish to say who the father was.

What do the rest of you think??

Victor

Victor Report 4 Oct 2008 17:54

Victor

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Oct 2008 17:53

i don't know how old her mum was when she had my grandmother but she could well have been 13 i going to ask my uncle know and see if he knows hopefully he will have a bit more information

Victor

Victor Report 4 Oct 2008 17:53

It is not a mistake, it is just different peoples way of spelling the name.

It looks like your Grandmother was Illigitimate if it does not have her fathers name listed.

But why was she given the name of Devine??

Victor

Sarah

Sarah Report 4 Oct 2008 17:48

i have access to my grans birth certificate but for some reason it does'nt say the fathers name, it only says the mothers surname, my uncle new her as mary, its all a bit comfusing as on the birth cert her name is spelt fulwood and on the marriage certificate is say Fullwood so i dont know whether they have made a mistake,

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 4 Oct 2008 17:47

But that would make her only 12 when she married
