my mother use to refer to nelly as her aunt

I can understand the reason for rejecting my Mary Elizabeth as it does look as if she married someone else (though I dont think you can always reject a marriage because the middle name is not included -I've seen many such instances)

Now we have a Mary Ann Fulwood b 1892 to begin the search again and although I cant find one born Ilkeston there is a Mary Ann Fullwood b Dudley Worcs 1892 who is living in Ilkeston in 1901 with parents James 44 Iron Moulder and wife Mary A 38
and siblings Luke 20, James 17, Nelly 14, Thomas 12, Joseph 11 Charles5 all born Harts Hill Worcs
Maybe Sarah you could sort through your suitcas again and see if any of these names ring a bell?

You don't know that her fathers name was Devine. She was name Mary Devine but Samuel Devine did not appear listed as her father on the birth certificate. It is possble that Mary Fulwood was already pregnant with someone elses child when she married Samuel Devine. If you can give us the date of birth and date of marriage it may answer this question.

Okay, it looks like we may not be able to give positive information at the moment then. We need if possible her fathers name from her marriage certifiate, now if it Says Samuel Devine we have a problem, as it may be that she has just put the name of the person she has always presumed is her father.

all i know it that my grans dad had the surname Devine
if this help they lived on moorhouse view in south elmsall and cartlon road

i cant get hold of my uncle he as the certificates at his home, at the moment he is out,

It would not say Mary Grundy on her marriage certficate (this was to be her new name when married), it would give her maiden name or previous married name and maiden name.
