Lisa J in California

Lisa J in California Report 4 Oct 2008 07:52

Sam, I've been looking (on and off) for more proof of my ties to an Ovens family in Ireland since I met them when I was about 10 years old. I am almost certain my Ovens ancestor was born in Corclune/Corcloon, County Fermanagh.

After checking out the site you recommended, I think I finally found my last bit of proof that we are related to them...I found the death of whom I believe to be my ancestor's grandmother or great aunt in Corkloon, County Fermanagh. There are too many other coincidences for the families not to be distantly related.

Thank you so much for posting the site.

Thanks for the link.
So far, ive found address for my one ancestors tea rooms and that he was also a dealer of marble sculpture.
I also found out that he won a local skating competition in 1893!

Just a nudge by way of thanks for posting this thread. I spend all afternoon wandering through these newspaper articles - didnt find anything to do with my people, but it was truly fascinating and I only hope that it stays free for months and months - loads of information on there which must relate to some families on this site.

I just searched the family name and the newspapers in the area, and up came loads of stuff.

Thanks again for the information.

I can't thank you enough for posting this link. I need to do some checking BUT I think you may have led me to my G.Grandfathers first marriage, which I thought I would never be able to find.

Much apreciated
