I can't thank you enough for drawing my attention to this site Sam.

I've been searching high and low to find out why my gt gt grandfather was in Brixton prison in 1871 including subscribing to Times Online without success.

A few minutes going through the Ipswich Journal and I discover he was guilty of stealing wool and, while in jail pending trial, tried to commit suicide!!!!

So many thanks for that Sam.

Got in this morn no probs, then "no file found". Have just tried again and managed to finish off the search on the name I'd been looking for.
Maybe it just needed a rest from us all!!!!!
