Find Ancestors

I was told the stories of the Aunt who was kiled in the air raid many years ago..when I was young.
Never knew if it was true or not..
Plus the story of the Aunt who imigrated to Oz.
Wasn't told her name..or when she went..all I knew was she went sometime around or before I was born.

I didn't know my grandparents names...on either side of family..mums or dads. I only recall meeting my mums once when I was very young..about 5-6 years old I guess. Didnt recall their names or where they lived.

So...its been abit of a struggle finding out anything....when you have nothing much to go on.

But so far ..my searchings..and guess work has payed off. I now know both sets of grandparents..and also have thier birth certs..which helped alot.
But again..still tricky.

I've had alot of folks on here moaning at me..saying you can't get by with just guess work..you need paper work to prove things..yes i understand that...BUT..when you have so little to go on in the 1st place..you have to start with what you have and guest work to get the the point where you can get the paper work to prove it...

It you understand that...lol.
Some have been most abrupt about helping..because they moan that what I tell them is guest work..not facts....but what can I do..It thats all I got to go on?.

Very dishearting..and annoying...as other folks who get help..don't get the Spanish Inquisition. :(

But my guess work has payed off..and I have paper work now to prove it!...So it does work.
Its not just a stab in the dark..its calculated guess work..mixed with common sence.

I thing they forget some of us don't have the same kind of family lifes where we have lots of into to had already.

Now....hopefully this is correct.

So..now have to start looking for Fredrick Fleet.

But as I said..Marjorie May..may or may not have had an affair with a US GI..and possibly had a child by him..when she was young.

Plus got Aunt to died in air raid to find..and and Uncle whos real name I dont know....lol.

As you might be able to tell..I know very little about my family...long story.....

Why I started to look up my family was to find if there is any scottish blood in the family.
As I moved to Scotland with my partner Linda 2 years ago. She is Scottish..well...we are thinking she may have Irish ancestors...So have been looking for her family also..
Again..brick walls etc..my luck.

Has been a real eye opener since I started looking up my family..so much I didn't know....very interesting and somewhat strange at times.

Only way to tell would be by the 1901 census.
Both marriages should be on there..and that way could tell who married who.

John and George are brothers.....they married the 2 girls who were friends...on the same day!....double marriage!..sametime...shared church or what ever to save money!

Because Reading fits....age would be right..only 6 years older than Marjorie...I find women married older men in those days...Maybe she was looking for a more fatherly figure for a husband?
Plus he doesn't appear to have a middle name..

I know its a little guessing...but my hunchies have payed off well so far in my searching...so I have faith in my guess work..lol

I dont know if Jack had a middle name or not..that would help.. if he did..help cut things down..but I'm afraid I don't know. :(

But cant find them!....very strange...

Yes Reading is probably the closest chance. as my mother was born in Reading...yet I have not found the marriages to match those I have found in Reading...very strange.

Same name..place ..but mothers name is Tyrrell..not Hyrrell...but I believe that one died very soon after birth..so the second one must be the same people..yet the mothers name is now Hyrrell.

As you mentioned Oz..I do have relations in Oz also...lol

I have an aunt who imigrated to Oz in 1960..i think she was one of those £10 poms.

She married a guy called Carr..and had 4-5 kids I think. They left for Oz onboard the RMS Orontes.

Small world when you start looking at family..lol.
The granddaughter of Fleet who I told yoo about...her mother Madeleine married twice..!.. one of her husbands is Greek!.....lol...

I originally started out looking to find scottish blood in the family...but yet so far have found Australian, American and Greek!...lol..MAD!

Have just sent his granddaughter a message asking if Fredrick and Marjorie were married or not.

Thing is ..I don't know how long I'll have to wait for a reply...or even if she knows the answer.

Oh Well....have to wait and see.
