Not familiar with USA site as such - but the only thing I can think of is to find a possible marriage of your husband's birth mother. Or find someone who has access to directory for those years to find her or something like that. Someone may have access to US Immigration and see if she came with someone or more info.. Like I said, I don't know much about USA parts.

Sorry to hear about your problems with CD - must be v frustrating.
Wondered whether you might be able to give me any advice on research in USA.
Just found out my husband's birth mother went to Vermont in late 1950s and was hoping to look up some ancestors there.
Not on Ancestry at present would you recommend it?

Canada - Vancouver 1876 William John Bothwell. I don't have his birth date but I do have his death if it helps 1st May 1964 Burnaby Vancouver.

also if possible USA birth/baptism
