JOHN GRANT REID (my great uncle) born 1883 in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire to Gordon Alexander Reid (born 1843 Strathdon) and Jane Gauld Reid (nee Grant - born 1851 Logie Coldstone, Aberdeenshire). In the 1891 census John was living at West Rinmore, Aberdeenshire and in the 1901 census, he had moved with his father and siblings to Shannoch Farm, Breda, Alford Aberdeenshire. In 1901 he was aged 18 and a joiner. In 1904 his eldest brother WIlliam married and started his family, there was obviously no room for the remainder of the previous generation and John emigrated to the USA with his sister Georgina and brother Alexander sometime after 1901 and before the first world war. After emigrating his family in Scotland heard no more. I would be grateful if anyone knows what became of him, did he marry, where in the USA did he settle? in fact any information at all about him would be very welcome.
