Can't find John Payne Johnson Davies (John Davis) on any census return, and not sure who the eight Johnson children referred to belong to.

It's a confusing family.

Reckon John Davis took name of (Payne) Johnson, but on marriage certificate used his birth name of Davi(e)s with Payne Johnson.

Need birth certificate to discover if John Payne Johnson was the father, or indeed is the right John Davis.

I kept looking at that birth too,I think that should be sent for with fathers name as checking ref to find out either way.

Edit,,also there are no John Johnson or Payne births in that district at that time
