Hi, i hope someone can help me, I have run into a massive brick wall.

I am trying to trace my grandmother and grandfather.

The only information I have is my grandmother lived in Great Alne, Warkwickshire and was born I think in 1876 and died in 1956/57. Her maiden name was Washbourne and she had a wooden leg from about the age of 12 as I belive she fell out of a tree.

I do not know her husbands name but his last name was Bennett and I believe he was married previously and also had other children.

They had 5 children - Doris (b. 6.12.1916 - d. c25.12.1998), Tom (b. 1909), Fanny (b.1907), Albert (b.1912) and Arthur (b. Jun 1914), and believe they were born in Alcester, Warwickshire.

My father, Arthur, moved down to Lymington in the 50's and this is where he died.

I have traced all the children but can not find any information on their parents. I have even gone to Great Alne to find her grave without any luck unfortunately.

Any information about my family would be apreciated.

Thanks James.

I can't find a marriage for a Washbourne and a Bennett to give us a clue as to their first names.

Hi Janet,

Sorry, I don't think this is my Doris and she married a David Morris and was born much earlier.

Thanks for your help, James

Have you tried the 1911 census for Fanny Bennett as there is this one.

BENNETT FANNY ELIZABETH F 1907 4 Alcester Warwickshire

You have to pay to view.

BENNETT TOM M 1909 2 Coventry Warwickshire

1911 for a Tom.

www.1911census.co.uk.

I think Fanny would be the safest bet for the 1911

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Jul 2009 11:24

I have to go now and do some work but will come back later to see if you have looked at that 1911 for Fanny. You can buy credits on the site I gave you I think 36.95 for so many is the cheapest. If you look at the transcription only it is 10 credits and will also give you the address. If you go for the actual census it is 10 credits. It should have how long the parents have been married on the actual form for 30 credits.
